One of our community’s biggest needs is affordable, high-quality childcare. Luckily, many childcare providers are making strides to meet the needs of Pulaski County’s parents and children!
Amy Swails, the founder and operations manager of the Winamac Early Learning Academy, is one of those unique individuals looking to ensure that our youngest Pulaski County residents have access to high-quality childcare.
After Moving to Pulaski County three years ago with her husband and their four kids, Amy—who has over twenty years of experience in the childcare field—established the academy to support Pulaski County families.
“I believe that high-quality childcare is essential for the future of any community because it helps children thrive and it supports working families,” said Swails. “I’m committed to creating a nurturing, educational environment for our youngest residents and to providing resources and support that strengthen families and our local workforce.”
A lot of work and care went into establishing the academy so quickly.
“Pulaski County’s strong sense of community and support is what made it all possible,” Swails said. “That support allowed us to build a structured space where kids can learn social skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of learning.”
The road to affordable childcare for our residents will take time and effort, but we are glad to highlight and support such endeavors. Together, we can achieve the future Amy and other providers envision.
“The goal is that every family has access to high-quality, affordable childcare, no matter their background or income level,” Swails said. “That way we can create a supportive community for our children where they can thrive and reach their full potential.”
